Syracuse Wedding Photographer | Caitlyn Bom Photography bio picture
  • I was given this opportunity to photograph people for a living, and it's something I take very seriously. I love what I do, and it amazes me the connections I've made through this career in such a short span of time. I love it when a bride glows on her wedding day, how a baby makes a goofy face when dad tickles them, how a family gets a kick out of an uncle's knock-knock joke. I'm not just a photographer, I'm an artist, but above all I'm a journalist. I know what interactions between friends and family means, and I know my job is to capture those moments that are real, which are true to who you are, not what I create. I love getting the “big picture” while focusing on a split second.

You can expect me to answer my emails at 11pm, you can expect me to give you advice if you need it, and you can expect me to bring 110% of my energy to put into your wedding!

So if you feel that you have connected with my work, and you like what you just read, email or call me! Yes, even if it is 11pm. I'll probably answer!

A Very Thoughtful Thanksgiving

It’s that time of year that everyone updates their status daily for a month straight saying exactly what they are thankful for. It’s a reminder that we should take a break from our every day lives and really just smile about something positive (because we all know, the rest of the year we kinda just keep pushing forward). I love taking this particular day to really reflect on what I have to be thankful for. Of course I should really do this weekly or daily, maybe I’ll start that..

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: I am thankful for my family and their support in this endeavor. Who knew I’d own my own business at 22 (now 23)? I mean, I’m sure my dad got the hint when I was 14, working at Dunkin Donuts and exclaiming that “if I owned my own place I’d run things so much better!” We’ve gotten a couple chuckles out of that. I mean when your dad starts randomly telling people in a grocery store that his daughter owns her own business (true story!) you know just know it’s gonna be alright!

A really big “THANK YOU!” to all my wonderful clients who have seriously been there to support me as well. Every single client I’ve had has always been so positive about my work and even some personal struggles. When my grandmother passed away recently, I was overwhelmed with happiness at the amount of cards and kind words not only clients but client’s friends and family sent me. I wouldn’t have nearly the amount of strength that I do now without your support.

So a million “thank you’s”, especially for the amazing meal my dad prepared (cause he’s awesome)!

Syracuse Wedding Photographer – Nicole and Brian’s Vintage Inspired Engagement!

Brian is my rock.

Brian and Nicole have known each other since college, and they always knew that they had something special. As time passed, that bond grew stronger and in 2008, they were able to take that leap into a relationship. Their first date really set the tone of their relationship though.

The best part about this date was that when I arrived, I was wearing a marroon polo with a navy tank top underneath and Brian showed up wearing a navy blue polo with a marroon tshirt under; so we totally matched. We then got to the restaurant and ordered the same exact thing: House Salad and Chicken Riggies.

Don’t get me wrong, these two aren’t the Bobbsey Twins by any means. Nicole explained to me that they really do balance one another out. She is the more serious and calculated side to the relationship, whereas Brian is the goofball and fun loving side. It makes sense that when I asked Brian what one thing came to mind about Nicole that always makes him smile, it was her laugh!

I’m not talking about the ‘oh haha that’s funny’ kind of laugh, I’m talking about the whimsical, uncontrollable, carefree type laugh accompanied by a scrunched up face, a throw back of the head and a possible snort or two! It is just infectious.”

This engagement session was really special. Nicole brought in the Deserted Attic to spice things up a bit and give their session a truly vintage feel! Aren’t Nicole and Brian’s outfits awesome?!

Look at those smiles!

I chuckled when I saw these. Props to Saad for capturing these:)

I can just see what’s going through Brian’s head: “hey, I’m the goofball, what gives?!” hehe

Syracuse Family Photographer – The Palucci Family

This evening I headed out to one of our beautiful local parks to photograph this awesome family. I photographed Suzette and Paul’s wedding back in July, and it was gorgeous! I love photographing families, and it was really nice to be able to take some time and get to know this family a bit better (while I try at weddings, they are a bit crazy)! Enjoy:)
