Syracuse Wedding Photographer | Caitlyn Bom Photography bio picture
  • I was given this opportunity to photograph people for a living, and it's something I take very seriously. I love what I do, and it amazes me the connections I've made through this career in such a short span of time. I love it when a bride glows on her wedding day, how a baby makes a goofy face when dad tickles them, how a family gets a kick out of an uncle's knock-knock joke. I'm not just a photographer, I'm an artist, but above all I'm a journalist. I know what interactions between friends and family means, and I know my job is to capture those moments that are real, which are true to who you are, not what I create. I love getting the “big picture” while focusing on a split second.

You can expect me to answer my emails at 11pm, you can expect me to give you advice if you need it, and you can expect me to bring 110% of my energy to put into your wedding!

So if you feel that you have connected with my work, and you like what you just read, email or call me! Yes, even if it is 11pm. I'll probably answer!

Henderson Wedding Photographer – Lorri & Josh’s Association Island Wedding

A New York wedding with Southern style. Josh is the exact dose of Southern swag necessary for Lorri to open up her heart completely to the idea of marriage and a happily ever after. Lorri is a good natured, down to earth, family woman. Josh is exactly that as well, just of course the man version! He may be a tough guy, and you know he’d protect her no matter what, but he does truly melt when she’s around. Her beautiful personality could honestly make anyone melt!

All the pieces of the wedding were carefully picked by Lorri, and Josh was right along side her when it came to personal creations throughout the venue, Association Island in Henderson, NY. This wedding was a true collaboration of love. Lorri sent me sneak peeks of everything throughout the process, and the excitement of what was in store was overwhelming! Walking up to the ceremony spot and into the reception venue was absolutely breath taking. All of these fine details were topped with the great weather we had and a gorgeous sunset!

Lorri & Josh…Your love runs deep and I’m happy to be a part of your happily ever after. I’ve known Lorri for a few years now, and I truly believe you two are meant for one another. Thank you so very much!

Not only did Lorri do her own makeup, but her mother’s as well!

And her sister’s makeup! Talented DIY bride!

These boots are seriously making me want to go shopping!

UGH! How gorgeous is she?!

Josh and his father inspecting the beer…

“Thank you for raising your son to be the man of my dreams!”

The first look! I love these, they’re really all about the bride and groom and their first moment together on their wedding day!

Look how excited he was to see his gorgeous bride!

His “wedding smile” hahaha!

These doors were actually put together by Josh! How awesome is that?

Flower girls watching the ceremony:)

A few more photographs of our beautiful bride and groom!

Can you tell I LOVE that she had boots on?

“I do!”

Gorgeous sunset!!

More details put together by Lorri and Josh!

Home made strawberry jam and salsa!

A super thoughtful kids table:)

The speech/slideshow that has been a theme throughout all three of the weddings I’ve had with this group! Adorable!

Let the party begin!

Look at this face!:P

A big THANK YOU to Leann and Ryan (below) for starting this trend. Without your wedding back in 2010 I wouldn’t be here today! <3

Some college sisters chanting!

Best wishes to you both, Mister and Mrs. Norris!

Syracuse Wedding Photographer – Jamie & Mike’s OnCenter Wedding

Style was the consistent theme throughout this wedding. That and a very subtle pop of different colors. The entire day felt very “New York Sleek”. The black dresses, the pop of rainbow colors that were used with the clothing coordination, topped with quite a few ladies who were into fashion themselves. It felt like I was photographing a bunch of runway models, to be honest with you.

The support that Jamie & Mike had between family and friends, as well as the pure honesty they had towards one another was amazing. It’s truly strange stepping into other people’s lives and essentially living with them for a day. You pick up on little details about each one, which in turn you hope to be able to photograph so the day is genuine when they look back over the years. While it seems every wedding is fun, exciting, and full of surprises, this particular wedding day held quite a few amazing little details, and boy was it amazing being there to photograph them!

Jamie & Mike… Your wedding was truly inspiring and really helped me realize some new things, and I feel like I grew a little bit through this experience. Your family and friends were really amazing, not to mention hilarious! Here’s to many years of happiness in your newly bought home. I’m happy my images will be able to fill up some of that new space!;)

Meanwhile, the girls helped out by framing tons of images from Seinfeld for the tables

While I’ll admit this was an accident while testing lighting, I *love* this image!

While the girls got ready, the guys watched the SU game! Woo hoo, go Orange!

You’ve got a handsome one, Jamie!;)

I absolutely LOVE First Looks!

How adorable is she?

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: The black dresses and coordinated shoes/flowers is amazing!

The natural light in the OnCenter really is gorgeous! This venue is perfect for rainy days!

Thumbs up right before the ceremony!

Stretch it out!;)

A little ceremonial balloon release, in remembrance of Jamie’s father!:)

A little side photograph while Jamie was relaxing. Gorgeous, girl!

Love how the OnCenter decorates!

Hilarious. Simply hilarious.

Mom telling him to respect her daughter! Haha.

Utica Wedding Photographer – Nicole & Brian’s Yahnundasis Golf Club Wedding

Nicole and Brian have been handling a lot of affairs all at once, but it seems everything really fell together for this one day. A house, beautiful weather, an amazing wedding timeline, and wonderful friends and family supporting them through it all. Even Zoe (their puppy/child) was excited about everything!

“You are my angel…”

Nicole attempted to hold back tears throughout the morning, you could tell she was prepared for the day, but emotions were running high with everyone. Her friends surrounded her and constantly brought that beautiful smile to her face (just you wait, you’ll laugh too!). They knew their best friend was marrying the man she loved, and was meant to be with.

The sky was a beautiful blue and the sun bathed Utica the entire day, giving us the perfect opportunity to use the hours Nicole and Brian set aside for photographs with their friends and family (I love it when I have so much time to dedicate to images!) When we finally arrived to the reception, located at the beautiful Yahnundasis Golf Club in Utica, I was overwhelmed with just how beautifully and strategically every little detail had been set up. Nicole entrusted her decorating to the amazing women of The Deserted Attic Vintage Rentals.

Nicole & Brian… I feel so blessed to have met you both, not to mention inspired! Between your drive to be healthy and your amazing creativity as well as beautiful love story, I can’t thank you enough for including me to be a part of your special day. Your friends and family are nothing short of amazing, and I wish you both much joy and happiness as you navigate your lives together.

The amazing Riki Lebied of Syracuse Makeup Artistry

Check. Out. These. SHOES!

Zoe, you are adorable!

I can’t begin to explain how awesome Nicole’s dad was when it came to photographing these beautiful flowers!

Don’t you LOVE this ribbon?

Nicole’s mother made these. Seriously, awesome!

I told you you’d laugh:

A beautiful card and gift from Brian…I started tearing up too!

Girls to the rescue to make her laugh!

A beautiful bracelet to match her grandmother’s pearls…

Who doesn’t like a little Blue Label?!

Look at this gorgeous sunset! The couple couldn’t be better!

I absolutely LOVE The Deserted Attic! You ladies did a phenomenal job!

ShoelyWed Game! Absolutely hilarious!

Is it just me, or is high fiving STILL awesome?

Get your party on!

A BIG “Thank you!” to Kelly and Matt! I wouldn’t be here without you two:)

Lorri Norris - September 12, 2012 - 8:24 pm

I LOVE everything about this wedding!!! Great pics!

Syracuse Family Photographer – New Business, New Name Contest!

This has been a great year for Caitlyn Bom Photography, especially when it comes to family, children, and newbon portraits!

To celebrate, I’ve actually decided to invest into creating a whole new branch of the business, with new branding, a new website, and other such things. The issue here is that I have no idea what to call it! There are some really awesome photography studio names out there, and while my name is pretty Bom (see what I did there?!) I’d like to separate the businesses a little bit so they can thrive separately. I will absolutely be maintaining Caitlyn Bom Photography as a wedding photography business, as that is where it originated (a shout out to all you fabulous brides and grooms who have entrusted me with documenting your special days! Thank you so much for your support!)

So here’s the deal! I’ve decided to actually run a full fledged contest on this, because hey! If I get something, why shouldn’t you?!

I bet you’re wondering “Well, what do I get?”.

I’m offering a FREE family or child session to the winners (prints and other items are a la carte)!

On top of that, you could win an awesome $50 gift card to Carrabba’s in Fayetteville, NY (although there are other locations around the US!)

(note: not my image. Photo credit: Carrabba’s)

So what are you waiting for?  Let’s hear those fabulous Family and kid oriented business names!:)

Just comment below with your business name idea.

All ideas that have already been taken (a quick google search will give this away) will be disqualified. You must actually comment on the blog to qualify (facebook submissions do not qualify)

I’ll be announcing a winner September 12th!

Okay, so every photographer name I could think of is used in some way. I don’t know if you want it to just not be another local business name or not be a name used at all so I’ll just throw them all out there anyways:

Tiny toes
Small moments
Love bug (my favorite)
Little love
Love of life

Or what about naming it after someone in your life? Like aunt pearl photography or something.

I’d be glad to offer a brainstorming session with you. It will be around 45 minutes.

A business name is so personal. By the end of our call, you’ll have greater clarity of where you want to go.

Call me 315.849.1057 to set it up.

Syracuse Wedding Photographer – Sarah & AJ’s Frog Pond Photobooth!

Another fun photo booth! If you remember Jamie & Justin’s photo booth from last year, you’ll love this one too! This photo booth was set up for Sarah and AJ’s wedding (check out Sarah and AJ’s wedding blog post here), and since she had a more pastel color palette for her wedding, I decided to pick up a back drop to match it!

I hope you enjoy this awesome photo booth from Sarah and AJ’s Frog Pond Bed and Breakfast wedding in Skaneateles, New York.:)
