Syracuse Wedding Photographer | Caitlyn Bom Photography bio picture
  • I was given this opportunity to photograph people for a living, and it's something I take very seriously. I love what I do, and it amazes me the connections I've made through this career in such a short span of time. I love it when a bride glows on her wedding day, how a baby makes a goofy face when dad tickles them, how a family gets a kick out of an uncle's knock-knock joke. I'm not just a photographer, I'm an artist, but above all I'm a journalist. I know what interactions between friends and family means, and I know my job is to capture those moments that are real, which are true to who you are, not what I create. I love getting the “big picture” while focusing on a split second.

You can expect me to answer my emails at 11pm, you can expect me to give you advice if you need it, and you can expect me to bring 110% of my energy to put into your wedding!

So if you feel that you have connected with my work, and you like what you just read, email or call me! Yes, even if it is 11pm. I'll probably answer!

Syracuse Wedding Photographer – Wedding Wednesday – Nicole & Will’s Auburn Wedding!

Everyone saw this coming. Everyone but them.

Nicole and William have been friends for years, over 8 years actually. Really good friends. Best friends. They have leaned on and supported one another through so many downs, turns, and roller coaster rides. Nicole never before thought to give Will a chance though, not until a little support from some of her girlfriends came into play. She obviously loved William, but needed that helping hand to unveil her true feelings to herself. He was there for her all the time, he knew so much about her, she knew so much about him. It just made sense, and it felt right. Years after the decision was made to open her heart to William, it’s easy to see they are both still madly in love with one another. It’s truly amazing to see what finding the right person for you will do…

Caitlyn,

You really captured the “love” and the “fun” of Will & Nicki’s special day.

Thank you so much!

Syracuse Photographer – Tiny Tuesday

Okay, so here we go! I’m (hopefully) adding yet another weekly blog post to my list! This idea was directly influenced by Lisa Walsh (Check out her stuff! She’s purdy awesome;)). I suck at this blogging thing, and one of my resolutions for the year was to start blogging regularly. Maybe this will help? Or maybe ya’ll will have to kick me in the butt to keep it going. Trust me, after you hear the deal, you’re gonna want to! Hehe…

So what is this Tiny Tuesday thing, you ask? I take a REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLY close up photo of something, meaning you don’t get to see the whole subject. The fun part is, you have to GUESS what it is! Just leave your guess in the comment section below. The winner each week will be put into a monthly drawing for *drumroll* a FREE 30 minute location session, aka I am waving the $75 fee (within 30 miles of Syracuse, prints sold seperately)!

First up:

Get as detailed as you can with your guess, and the first one to guess correctly will win a chance for the session! Remember to leave your guess in the comment section below:)GOOD LUCK!

Syracuse Wedding Photographer – Last Snow (Er…maybe)

I woke up this morning feeling quite refreshed. Yesterday was “one of those days” that everyone I talked to asked me if something was bothering me or if they did something. I had this overwhelming feeling of “in-between”. I hate that feeling of limbo, of waiting. I have no patience, whatsoever! If I want something, I must have it now. Sometimes that’s problematic.

This morning I feel quite different. I’m still impatiently waiting for the new changes to take place, but at least I know their coming. I’m impatiently waiting for the weather to turn warm again and stay that way for months rather than days or hours. I’m just ready to get a move on, but when I sit down and actually think about it, instead of tapping my foot and staring at my watch with a grimace on my face, I think I’ll just get up and enjoy what I do have right now, in this moment.

This morning he told me I looked beautiful (nevermind I actually look like a train wreck in the morning, I swear I slept like a very ugly log last night and woke up not looking much better…you know those marks you get on your arms and face when you sleep on something not-so-smooth? Yup, that was me). It was something so small but so sweet that I still can’t stop smiling about it. That’s not to say he’s not sweet all the time! Just for some reason, this morning it meant a little more.

Also the fact that right when I got back home from dropping him off at work, Boots came over and snuggled on my lap while I browsed my daily web-pages (Of course, number one was Jasmine Star). He’s so friggin cute! He has this undying desire to stalk me around the house and meow at me until I pick him up, then his insta-purr kicks in and he headbutts my chin sometimes not so gently. His curiosity is so amusing to watch.

Here’s Boots looking out the window at one of the last dumps of snow we’ll get. Of course, there’s going to be that one last kicker mid-April that everyone wakes up to and hits their forhead against the window inwardly screaming “WHYYYYYYY?!?!?!?!!?”

For now, I guess this is just a reminder to enjoy what you have. Stop and breath once in a while, and don’t get too caught up in what the future will bring. You have a lot of things surrounding you now that you’re missing.

Syracuse Wedding Photographer – Getting Ready…

It’s March 19th, a Saturday (and for those of you that don’t know, yesterday was Friday. Tomorrow is Sunday…Thank you Rebecca Black. I had to poke a little fun at that video…). I’m looking out the window and it’s overcast, a typical Syracuse day. I felt so spoiled the past couple of days because there was nothing but sun and warmth and I actually went outside in a t-shirt! Craziness!

But anywho, here’s an update of what’s going on:

*It’s almost wedding season!
And I am completely psyched for it! I have some absolutely wonderful brides & grooms this year, and a few of them have some absolutely insane antics up their sleeves. I can’t wait to photograph them and share them with the world:)Some of my brides are even considering (waiiiiit for it….) trashing their wedding dresses! And the way their going to do it is pretty much like no other;)

*Engagement Sessions!
I’m going to have a TON of these lined up soon because the weather will be fabulous (cross our fingers, knock on wood, avoid booking on Friday the 13th, as well as wearing my clothes inside out?….Okay, some of these superstitions are pretty funny).

*New Website Section: Seniors!
That’s right! Go check it out! My dedicated Senior Section! I’m looking for Spokesmodels too;)

*New Living Space!
Okay, so quite a few people know this, and now all you internet people will too! I just got my own apartment:)No room mates! I’m all grown up! Scary. But no really, I’m happy I’ll have my own space that I can keep messy clean all the time.:)What? I’m artistic. That’s my excuse reasoning. Maybe I should stop writing about this.

*New Studio!
I’ll be announcing the Grand Opening date for my studio soon! I’m just torn on what day would work best for it. It’s either going to be a Sunday or a Monday. Thoughts? Yeah, that’s right, I’m asking for your opinion.;)

So yes, tons of exciting things going on! And in the middle of everything I listed above, I also need to get organized. I’m terrible at that. Like….so terrible that I’ve been saying “I need to get organized” and everyone in my life just kinda nods, smiles, and goes on doing what their doing because they know they’ll hear it again a couple days later. But no, really! Organized! I’m dedicating an entire weekend to it! I swear! (And Saad may or may not be coming in from out of town to help me with it, cause he’s the bestest!)

Anywho, here’s a picture of Boots from back in January. He was so tiny!!! (And yes, as the picture shows, he’s a little demon. But he’s cute, so he gets away with it).
