Syracuse Wedding Photographer | Caitlyn Bom Photography bio picture
  • I was given this opportunity to photograph people for a living, and it's something I take very seriously. I love what I do, and it amazes me the connections I've made through this career in such a short span of time. I love it when a bride glows on her wedding day, how a baby makes a goofy face when dad tickles them, how a family gets a kick out of an uncle's knock-knock joke. I'm not just a photographer, I'm an artist, but above all I'm a journalist. I know what interactions between friends and family means, and I know my job is to capture those moments that are real, which are true to who you are, not what I create. I love getting the “big picture” while focusing on a split second.

You can expect me to answer my emails at 11pm, you can expect me to give you advice if you need it, and you can expect me to bring 110% of my energy to put into your wedding!

So if you feel that you have connected with my work, and you like what you just read, email or call me! Yes, even if it is 11pm. I'll probably answer!

Montreal Wedding Photographer – Anna and Jason Part II

I am very angry right now

This is something you never want to hear on a wedding day.

This is also something you never say to the bride and groom!

But he did, the driver that is. And let’s just say we were all shocked. We all held our breath as he continued.

I’m so angry right now, because I was lied to.

What. On. Earth?!

More waiting…

My boss told me that I’d be driving a bride and groom around, not a queen and a king!

And laughter, after a huge sigh of relief, ensued. Anna blushed, and Jason relaxed. And then the rest of their beautiful day continued…(Of course we never did run into Will and Kate, darnit! But I got my own royalty to photograph, hehe)

And oh my goodness, we couldn’t ask for more gorgeous weather! This was my first time photographing a wedding in Montreal, and I’ve got to say: It’s the city of love for North America, that’s for sure! And what a perfect couple to photograph!

These two met due to inconvenience, actually. Jason had to take more English classes due to University of Alberta not recognizing his perfect English. It just so happened his beautiful future bride was in the same English class;)The rest is history!

These guys are total hams!

I think Anna said this was the first time she ever opened a bottle of champagne! No one was hurt, hehe

What a beautiful gift!

Most helpful mother…EVER!:)

She required a bit of help with this dress:)

Like I said…total hams!

Okay so here’s the fun part: Kransekake.

Anna’s mother put this masterpiece together, isn’t it beautiful?!

Now the point of this is for the bride and groom to pick it up by the first ring, and however many rings come along with it denotes how many children the couple will have.

Oh yeah. That’s 8 by the way.

Have fun guys!;)I can’t wait!!

Absolutely great sports about it, and I’ll be interested to see if this Norwegian tradition will actually come true!

Thank you so much Anna and Jason for choosing us to capture your romantic, fun-filled wedding day! I feel so incredibly lucky to have been a part of it. Your families are so wonderful as well, and I wish you both the absolute best! I can’t wait to come up and visit, and I also can’t wait to photograph Elinor’s wedding next Fall!!

Syracuse Wedding Photographer – Jennifer and Anthony’s Syracuse Wedding Part II!

She had put Anthony in charge of one thing: The Limo. She had given him that one thing. So they went to check out the limos, all three lined up. They checked out the first two, which were nice, comfy, etc….But Jenn had to check out the Hummer. Something about it just called to her. Anthony gave in, even though it wasn’t his preference. After all, he does love Jenn! They opened the door and Jenn squeeled!

There goes that! I give up! We’re getting this one!

Anthony threw in the towel. They had opened the door to the perfect Jennifer limo! Leopard print and lime green! It was thiers. And that’s just one minor detail which shows just how meant to be this wedding was. Jenn and Anthony are truly made for one another!

I think the pictures do a great job of showing what I mean;)

I seriously think this is a great look!

Jenn being the person she is had to take over her snookie poof;)Of course, she’s a hair stylist, so she knew what she was doing!

Whatever you do – I’ll be two steps behind you
Wherever you go – and I’ll be there to remind you
That it only takes a minute of your precious time
To turn around, I’ll be two steps behind

Jenn’s really into karaoke, if you couldn’t tell!

Jenn and Anthony….I can’t thank you enough! You made the day so easy, it really zoomed by! And Carol, you are such a sweetheart. You did an amazing job helping out! This wedding was very well thought out, prepared for, and done. I’m just happy we were there to capture the moments!

Syracuse Photographer – Tiny Tuesday

Okay, it’s back!!!

I apologize for the hiatus everyone, but unfortunately technology has had it out for me lately. I’m knocking on wood right now that nothing happens to my car or camera at this point! My computer has decided to stop working almost completely, so while I’m in the process of figuring out that issue, I am borrowing Saad’s Mac! It’s an interesting experience to say the least. The best thing about it though, is that it works! Yay!

So I bet you are all wondering who won the last Tiny Tuesday! Melissa Newvine!:)

Thank you all for your patience while I figure this computer issue out. And here is this week’s Tiny Tuesday! Post your guess in the comment section:)You may win a family session with the sitting fee waived! Remember, only within 30 minutes of Syracuse!

Syracuse Wedding Photographer – Syracuse Woman Magazine – July/August 2011 Fashion Forward Spreads

I have been wanting to work with a magazine for quite some time now. I mean, really not that incredibly long, but you know…about 8 months or so….That’s a while, right?

Well, anywho, my opportunity came through WBOC (Women Business Opportunities Connections). I need to take a second to thank this wonderful organization for opening so many doors for me! So many wonderful, driven, inspiring women. I truly feel like I can accomplish anything when I leave there!

So back to the magazine. My original idea was “I really want photograph a bride in a zoo. I mean, how cool would that be?! A bride, with some not-so-normal animals?” I mean, there was a bit more thought put behind this. Then of course I began to think that this really needed to be seen. By, like, everyone. Of course, Syracuse has it’s own zoo, the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, which I admit, I have not visited nearly enough. Their staff is amazing, and the animals are so cool!

No of course, me being crazy me, I wanted the models to be next to or on the animals. Sign waivers! Make it happen! Throw safety out the window for this awesome idea!

While that didn’t happen, I’m really happy to announce that my dream was realized, thanks to Syracuse Woman Magazine, the wonderful people at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, and some crazy awesome models (Claire, Kyle, Allison, & Victor)! We got pretty close to the animals;)Pick up your copy at :
