Syracuse Wedding Photographer – Happy New Year – Thoughts on Change…

I’ve contemplated how much information is too much for me to blog about. I’m not sure how this year will pan out as far as blogs go, but I do have a list of things I’d like to change when it comes to this business:

-Personality:
One of the biggest things I want to bring to CBP is personality. I have focused a lot on booking weddings in 2011 with brides who I feel a strong connection with. I was very lucky my first year of weddings to have some very amazing brides book me. I can’t complain about a single one! But I’ve reviewed some of the interactions made and have decided that a huge change for me will be to be more open about my life here so when a bride comes along looking for a photographer, she doesn’t just have photos to like but a person to connect with as well! I love the feeling of walking away from a reception and knowing that the couple I just photographed are not only clients, but friends as well!

-A More Focused Business Plan:
That’s right! While this whole business started by itself (literally. Yes, I made the decisions to move forward with it, but seriously? It just kind of fell into my lap). My main focus is obviously weddings, but my other focus is also boudoir photography. For those of you that don’t know what that is, check out my other website dedicated soley to women who really know how to strut their stuff and do it in style: www.SyracuseBoudoir.com There are a few minor things I plan to do that are involved in this shift, but I won’t bore you with all that! Hehe.

-Focus on My Own Personal Growth:
I won’t go too into details with this yet, but 2010 really threw some curveballs my way. All in all I feel I handled them well. 2011 will too, I’m sure, but I think that with a fresh start I’ll be able to really plan things out. I’ve already started a 2011 budget plan (no retail therapy?! Okay, maybe a little….), I’m starting to work out more (Go P90x!), and I’m going to work on my time management(Oh facebook….how I love you and all the time I waste with you…)! Needless to say, I was a little ball of stress in 2010. I’ve reviewed what I feel were the root issues of that stress and hopefully my little action plan will work! Life is funny. I graduated from college in May, and I’m on my own now. It’s weird being a grown up!

There are a few other things that I haven’t mentioned in here, all connected to what has been mentioned. But before I close this out I want to say thank you to a few key individuals in my life:

Dad:
You are and amazing father, and I really don’t tell you that enough. You have worked so hard to raise me, and while we’ve had our differences (what father/daughter don’t?) I really feel I wouldn’t be nearly the woman I am today without you. I love you so much, thank you for everything you’ve done for me and for being there to support me through the past 23 years. You’re the best!

Linda:
When it comes to step-mom’s, I gotta say you’ve really done an amazing job! You were there for me in some really dark times, and you were also there to be the sensible person when dad and/or I were being a little less so. You changed my life so much, and you are a true inspiration to me. I don’t think I’ve ever told you this, but you are a strong woman, and one that I truly do admire. Your intelligence and down to Earth personality is really astounding. Just like my dad, without you, I wouldn’t be who I am today.

Saad:
We have been through so much together. I can’t even list off everything, because people would seriously go cross eyed. Instead of doing that, I will say that you have been there through thick and thin. We are more than just business partners, we’re the bestest of friends and I know I can say you are definitely one of the strongest rocks in my life. You are always there when I need you, and definitely when it means the most. This business and I would not be where it is without you. So enough mushy gooshy stuff. Thank you for being the most wonderful, cool, inspiring, friendly AWESOME person I know.

All of this was brought to you while I lay here in bed in my pajamas at 7:30pm on January 1st, 2011. Here’s to an amazing and Happy 2011!

Oh, and since this is a photo blog, here’s a picture of Mollie playing hide and seek! We think she’s preggers. I’ll keep you updated;)
